Why one session is never enough
Hair grows in cycles, and laser only affects hairs in the active growth phase. At any moment only part of the hair in an area is in that phase, so each session catches a different group. Several sessions spaced weeks apart are what let the laser reach most follicles.
Sessions by area
Underarms, bikini and legs usually respond well and often finish within 6 to 8 sessions. The face, chin and neck are driven by hormones and can need more sessions plus occasional top-ups. Men's beard shaping, back and chest have dense, coarse hair and often need 8 to 10.
What changes the number
Hair colour and thickness, skin tone, hormones (for example PCOS), and how regularly you keep your appointments all matter. Waxing or plucking between sessions removes the root the laser needs and sets progress back, so shave only.
What to expect after each session
Treated hair usually sheds over 1 to 3 weeks. Many people notice clear thinning after the third or fourth session, and regrowth gets finer and slower each time.
